Published May 29, 2019Having already announced that Joel Plaskett Emergency would headline their 2019 edition, organizers behind Ontario's Cicada Music & Arts festival have rolled out the rest of their lineup.
Taking place October 5 on Henley Island in Port Dalhousie, ON, this year's festival also features Wintersleep, Born Ruffians, My Son the Hurricane and the Weather Station atop the bill.
Following closely behind are Logan Staats, the Wooden Sky, Basement Revolver, Dan Edmonds, Spencer Burton (who will play a children's set), the Mandevilles, Katey Gatta, the Weather Wild and J.R.
"We're really excited to bring Cicada back to St. Catharines again this year, with what we feel is an even stronger lineup than 2018," festival artistic director Erik Dickson said in a statement. "Joel Plaskett has been a household name in the Canadian music scene for many years, and a favourite in Niagara specifically. We can't wait to welcome him to the festival this year."
Cicada was originally conceived in 2008 by Thom Lepp, who hosted the festival in numerous venues throughout the Niagara Region over the years. In 2011, Lepp was diagnosed with prostate cancer. When he passed away in 2017, Cicada was resurrected as a way to carry on his love for music.
Further festival information can be found through Cicada's official website.
