Behemoth's Nergal Got Kicked Out of a YMCA for Wearing a Darkthrone Shirt
"u can't F**K with my workout routine!"
A video shared by the frontman on Instagram show him getting into a vehicle outside the unspecified YMCA. The organization's acronym stands for Young Men's Christian Association, so it isn't exactly surprising that they had an objection to the demonic-looking shirt graphic.
In the clip, Nergal tells his driver, "They saw my Darkthrone shirt, and then asked us, "Do you worship our lord Jesus Christ? …. and [we told them] we don't. … and they wouldn't let us work out in the YMCA here."
In a caption for the clip, Nergal wrote, "Jesus! This means war mate! U can ask your buddies to censor my art, u can ask your disciples to bring me to courts, u can ask your sons to boycott Behemoth's shows… but u can't F**K with my workout routine!"
Word of the predicament eventually got back to Darkthrone's social media manager Roger Hoglund, who revealed that he was the one that had blessed Nergal with the band tee. Hoglund wrote, "I didn't know if I should laugh or cry when I heard about it."
You can watch the saga unfold below. Behemoth will hit Toronto on the "Knotfest Roadshow" tour next week.
So @nergal69 was kicked out of a gym in the states where @behemoth are currently on tour yesterday because he was wearing a Darkthrone shirt and they asked him if he believed in Jesus Christ. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry when I heard about it. The fun thing for me about all this is that the shirt he was wearing was an old original #Darkthrone shirt that I gave him about a year ago. Have any of you had any simular problem wearing a Darkthrone shirt? /////// @roger_mb_hoglund
