Published Oct 21, 2019Green Day's brand is in a strange place right now, what with their new NHL anthem and Kendrick Lamar-inspired new album. Adding to the weirdness, Shakira has stepped into the ring to cover the band's Dookie hit "Basket Case."
The enormous global pop star decided to take a little studio detour and break into an impromptu cover of the song. Backed by her producer, who is adorned in a Pokemon hoodie and hacking away at an acoustic guitar, she offered a fairly straightforward cover of the song.
Come for the familiar opening lines, however, and stay for the part where she forgets the phrase "cracking up." There's also some cringey air guitar for added effect.
