Sharon Van Etten Heads to the Desert in 'Beaten Down'
Sharon Van Etten has shared a brand new single today titled "Beaten Down" via Jagjaguwar.

"It's about making life-changing choices and remaining strong enough to see them through," Van Etten said of the track in a statement.

The single arrives today alongside a moody Nicky and Juliana Giraffe-directed video starring Van Etten alongside two dancers, Allison and Veronica Huber, and horse.

"Our goal was to create a striking and psychedelic video set in the California desert, a welcoming of Sharon's next chapter here," the Giraffes said in a statement. "Upon hearing the song, our minds automatically drifted into stark black and white, fever dreams, dark silhouettes contrasted against a barren desert landscape. Our intention was to give Sharon's song and performance space to breathe and echo. It was important to us that the dancers were strongly connected and we're so lucky to have worked with the talented Huber Twins on this project."

"Beaten Down" follows the release of Van Etten's 2019 record Remind Me Tomorrow, which made Exclaim!'s 20 Best Pop and Rock Albums of 2019.
