Published Dec 03, 2019In the least surprising news ever, Drake was the most streamed artist of the decade on Spotify, according to the platform's "A Decade Wrapped" report.
The summary confirmed Drake's global title, with 28 billion streams racked up over the last 10 years.
That includes years like 2016, when he earned the most streamed album (VIEWS) and most streamed song ("One Dance"), and 2018, when he smashed records with the release of "God's Plan."
Trailing behind Drizzy, the second most streamed artist of the decade was Ed Sheeran, followed by third place winner Post Malone.
Though none of them managed to out-stream the top three artists, the top three most streamed female artists of the decade were Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Taylor Swift (with the latter removing her catalogue from Spotify for a significant chunk of the decade).
As for the most streamed songs, Sheeran's "Shape of You" took the top spot, followed by Drake's "One Dance" and Post Malone and 21 Savage's "rockstar."
It's worth noting that North America didn't have access to the streaming service for the entirety of the decade. Spotify launched in 2009, eventually making its way to the United States in 2011 and Canada in 2014.
